Community Engagement

Beyond media exposure, Uprooted Media has engaged directly with Slovak heritage organizations through presentations and discussions.

Through these media appearances and community engagements, Uprooted Media continues to expand its reach, ensuring that Slovak immigrant history is preserved, celebrated, and shared with future generations.

Slovak PRO Seattle Chapter

We presented Slovak Value Creators: The Creation of the Slovak Descendant, exploring how Slovak immigrants and their descendants have shaped industries, communities, and cultural identities in America. This talk sparked discussions on the evolving Slovak-American experience and how Slovak-Descendants and recent Slovak-immigrants can come together as a shared community.

In a neighboring community to Slovaktown, we introduced local audiences to the history of Slovak immigrants in the region. This event also included an introduction to John Dopyera, the Slovak-American inventor of the Dobro resonator guitar, whose innovations left a lasting mark on American music.

Media Outreach

Uprooted Media has gained significant recognition through national and global media coverage and community presentations, bringing greater awareness to the history and contributions of Slovak immigrants in the United States.

Our work has been featured in major news outlets, including Radio Slovensko and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, among others. These features have amplified the importance of preserving Slovak-American culture, reaching both Slovak-American communities and a wider audience interested in multicultural heritage. Through interviews and articles, Uprooted Media continues to highlight the personal stories and historical impact of these communities.
